MCC Family,

Hello to all of our parents and our students and welcome to the October edition of the MCC High School Newsletter.  We have had some really great happenings in the first five weeks of school and we will update you on more dates and events that are on the horizon.

Spirit week and homecoming were fantastic last week.  Our students displayed a tremendous amount of school spirit and had fun at our powder puff football game, dress-up days, hall decorating, parade and dance.  We also got a varsity football win in our homecoming football game and crowned our king and queen, Simon Shimel and Charlie Banks.  The staff at MCC deserve to be recognized for their efforts toward the week and special thanks to our class advisors.  Mrs. Chye and the student council also deserve special thanks for a job well done.

On Wednesday the PSAT will be given to our 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students.  This will take place in the morning on Wednesday.  Students will report to their advisory and will be testing until our lunch period at 12:23 pm.  Seniors do not need to report to MCC classes in the morning that day.  However, seniors must attend morning CTE and dual-enrollment classes.  All students will have a normal afternoon that day.  Please make sure that you know this schedule and get a good night’s rest to be ready for the testing.

Congratulations to all those that are receiving the H.G. Bacon bronze, silver, or gold award this year!  The H.G. Bacon Award for Academic Excellence is given to students who achieve at least a 3.33 GPA in each of the previous year’s trimesters.  These young people go above and beyond for academics and deserve to be recognized.  This is why we give this award each year.  Congratulations to them and you as parents for this award.

Lastly, we have parent/teacher conferences on Wednesday, October 19th from 3:30 pm-6:30 pm.  Please come to conferences to meet the teachers and learn about your child’s progress.  It is nice to have parents back in the building after COVID.
